SBC Stress Management

General Information:
Daily life can be stressful, but we all need a certain amount of stress to motivate us and keep an interest in life. The problem starts when good stress (eustress) changes to bad stress (distress) and we start experiencing physical symptoms such as:

-
Palpitations
-
Dizziness
-
Breathlessness
-
Fainting
-
Insomnia
-
Fatigue
-
Chest Pains
-
Tingling
-
Muscle Pain/Cramps
-
Blurred Vision
-
Cold Hands/Feet

This list is not exhaustive as there are numerous other symptoms. The reason we feel these physical symptoms dates back to ancient times when man lived in caves and was constantly on guard to fight off dangerous animals; this is part of our heritage and the response to danger (or what we think is a danger to our job, our good name, our finances etc.) remains with us and is called ‘fight or flight’. This is where our body is geared up to defend ourselves or run for our lives; unfortunately if we have to work with difficult people , or bring up kids that misbehave, we cannot run away or fight. However, the physical, emotional and behavioural sensations remain in our body and mind. This builds up leading to stress on an emotional level such as anxiety, depression or anger, and even feelings of isolation etc. These can be experienced in addition to the physical symptoms as outlined above.
If you are constantly under pressure with work and family, juggling to do it all, or overloaded at work with an ever-increasing in tray, Stress Management can help.
