WHO IS SBC STRESS MANAGEMENT RUN BY?

SBC Stress Management is run by Teresa Clarke in Lancashire.

 

 

BACKGROUND TO SBC STRESS MANAGEMENT

​

Years ago, Teresa had a stressful job and ended up with exhaustion, which was a wakeup call, indicating that life had to change for a less stressful one; this was the beginning of an era where she tried various techniques which would reduce stress, from relaxing herbs, Bach Flower Remedies, reflexology, and remedial massage to self-help books and tapes.   Diet also became important as exhaustion can be improved by eating homemade food, and cutting down on sweet treats.  Combining all of the above, along with a new, less stressful job, Teresa made a healthy recovery and is now experiencing a less stressful, more fulfilling lifetyle.

 

With a real interest in people and an understanding of what stress can do to a person, Teresa studied Stress Management whilst working in Local Government and qualified in February 1992 with The Stress Consultancy in Sheffield.   This was one way to help people de-stress.  However, it was not sufficient as Teresa wanted to improve her skills of understanding how people tick.  After enquiring about Life Coaching techniques, Teresa decided do a Life Coaching course.  Life Coaching and Neuro Linguistic Programming help people to understand what influences the decisions they make in life, but more importantly, what decisions they are afraid to make.  It also allows a person to understand what sometimes causes a feeling of being stuck and unable to make a decision; an example of this would be a person disliking their job but afraid to change it.  

 

In 2005 Teresa qualified as aLife Coach (and gained a distinction), with The Coaching Academy in London. Teresa had continued working in Local Government whilst studying for this qualification, juggling a full-time job with study, as well as working at weekends as a complementary therapist.  The emphashis remained on helping people to relax and to change negative thought patterns to improve lifestyle.

The above is a snapshot of how and why SBC Stress Management came into being; it came from a bout of overwork and exhaustion.  This in turn, triggered a realisation that certain lifestyles can cause illness if it is one which is not supporting you as a person.  The health of both mind and body is important: without good health, you may be earning lots of money but are left feeling depressed and miserable; you have not given yourself permission to sit down and to reflect what it really is you want out of life – what will make you feel healthy and happy? So, why not allow Stress Management or Personal Coaching to help improve mind and body?
